In the meantime I have finished an Australian title - "A life on Pittwater". What a delightful part of the world.
The author, Susan Duncan and her husband, live in a house known as "Tarrangaua" and there are several pictures of the house, including the front cover of the book.
A view of the living room in Tarangaua. This house was built in 1925 by the privileged and wealthy Australian poet, Dorothea MacKellar. Most baby boomers will never forget the lines, "I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains". This poem was written at a time when Australians looked to Britain as the mother country; as "home". It was taken for granted that most young people would make a trip there. This poem was very powerful and Miss MacKellar was apparently asked to recite it often. It inspired patriotism and probably resulted in a few less people feeling obliged to make the traditional sabbatical. I know that speaking for myself, I never made it to the UK. I went to Asia instead.

This is NOT Asia - on the lawn of Tarangaua, the author has used Asian statuettes
